Bill & Carol (Bert) met when they were 13 years old in Skokie, Illinois. At 14 they started dating and at 17 Bill asked Carol to be his bride. Bill recalls it was a Friday evening and they were out cruising in the '57 Chevy convertible. They went to Scotts Drive In in Morton Grove for the Friday cruise night and a celebratory meal of Highlanders [burgers] and fries. In 1967 Bill was serving in the U.S. Air Force stationed at Williams Air Force base in Chandler, Arizona. Carol joined Bill soon after being assigned and they were married Aug. 18, 1967, at 19 years old, in Phoenix, Arizona. After the ceremony, the wedding party of "two," and newlyweds, proceeded to Monty's Steak House in Tempe for their reception dinner complete with Cold Duck and Coors. Bill and Carol resided in Chandler/Mesa until July 1969 when Bill received orders to serve in Vietnam. Shortly after his return in July of 1970 they welcomed the birth of their first child CarrieAnn (Steve) and three years later welcomed their son Bill. Bill and Carol are blessed with five wonderful grandchildren: Sarah, Allyson, Genevieve, Grayson and Billy. They spend countless hours cheering them on in a variety of sports! Happy Golden Anniversary, Mom & Dad! We love you very much.
