Loving Care Animal Hospital is celebrating 20 years in business this October. The small animal and exotic clinic located at 444 E. Northwest Hwy, in Palatine has been owned by Dr. Joanne L. Carlson since October of 1999. Since then, the hospital has grown to a superb five doctor practice employing many compassionate and intelligent veterinary support staff, as well. Over the years, the hospital's clients have grown attached to the lovely Sue, our head receptionist, who has been with the clinic for 19 years and the ever compassionate and intelligent Dennis. Our goal is to provide the highest standard of veterinary care in a compassionate manner, to develop an open, honest alliance with our clients and to celebrate the human animal bond. We realize that your animal companions are beloved family members and we strive to treat them with special attention.

Dr. Carlson graduated, with honors, from the University Of Illinois College Of Veterinary Medicine. She did her externship and fellowship with Lincoln Park Zoo. Served as the Dupage County Animal Control Administrator, and volunteered as the President of the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association. Recently Dr. C served as the Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association president elect and volunteered as a board member for several years. When Dr. Carlson is not at the office, she enjoys spending time with her dog, 3 cats, 2 rabbits and 3 children.

While Dr. Carlson is the primary surgeon at the practice, Dr. Jeff Merrill serves as our primary exotic doctor. Treating and performing surgeries on all small exotics such as rabbits, birds, guinea pigs and all kinds of reptiles. Dr. Betsy North holds special interest in small animal pediatrics and behavior, also with her degree from the University Of Illinois Veterinary College. Dr. Leslie Gellatly and Dr. Lisa Lullo finish out the team with a shared passion in Internal Medicine. Dr. Gellatly even has her NAVC Pet Nutrition Certification.

The practice hopes for at least another 20 years and would like to thank all of our current clients that have made these past 20 years possible. In celebration of our 20 years, we are currently collecting items for the local food pantry and animal shelters. We welcome everyone to come by, drop something off and help us help out the community.
