Terese & Kazys Kazlauskas

Their 70 years together began during and after World War II. Both Terese Lusaite and Kazys Kazlauskas were refugees from their homeland, Lithuania, fleeing from Soviet occupation. Their paths crossed when they met each other in a Displaced Persons' camp in Germany, just after the war. Terese and Kazys waited four years before they were able to emigrate to the United States. In late September of 1950, they married at St. Bartholomew Church in Waukegan, embarking on their lives together.

During their initial years of marriage, Terese worked at Abbott Laboratories and then chose to dedicate her life to raising their children. When Kazys retired in 1992, he had worked at Abbott for 36 years, as a Machine Designer of production equipment.

The dreams and hopes of Terese and Kazys blossomed as their children grew. Both Terese and Kazys have always valued the importance of education. Terese and Kazys' encouragement of their children's interests and pursuits have carried them on to graduate from college and also to continue on to postgraduate degrees and studies.

Once their children were grown, Terese and Kazys fully embraced the joys of retirement. They have continued to nurture each other and be models of love and dedication to each other, their children, their six grandchildren, and their extended families.

With sincere pride and deepest gratitude, we congratulate our parents, our grandparents, for their immense accomplishment, steadfast love for each other, and continued inspiration of love and respect. We wish them both good health as we step back to admire their 25,568 days of married life! Happy 70th Anniversary!
